As a mum myself, I know just how tough it is for working families to juggle careers with the high cost of child care.
An Albanese Labor Government will make child care more affordable and help mums, kids, and working families get ahead.
Here’s what we’ll do:
Lift the maximum child care subsidy: We’ll raise it to 90% for families with their first child in care.
Increase subsidies for all families: If you have one child in care and your household income is less than $530,000, we’ll increase your subsidy rates.
Keep higher subsidies for second and additional kids: We’ll make sure families with more than one child get the support they need.
Extend subsidies to outside school hours care: We’ll make this subsidy available for outside school hours care as well.
Pay rise for early childhood educators: We’ll give early childhood educators a 15% pay rise because they do such important work.
Labor understands that child care is not just a benefit, it’s a necessity. By making it more affordable, we’re helping women get back to work if they want to, and giving families the support they need to thrive.
